SCIROCCO focus group meeting, ICIC, Dublin 9 May

On Tuesday 9th May 2017 EUREGHA organised in collaboration with SCIROCCO, Scottish Centre for Telehealth & Telecare and EIP on AHA a first focus group that explored how member regions have experienced the use of the SCIROCCO self-assessment tool and their opinions about it. The focus group was attended by 10 representatives of four different EUREGHA regions in Europe, including Catalonia (Spain), Flanders (Belgium), Skane (Sweden) and Wales (United Kingdom).

The workshop was designed with specific questions for the attendees to discuss, relating to their experience of using the SCIROCCO tool:

  • How the tool is used or can be used
  • How the tool can be improved
  • Outcomes emerging from use of the tool
  • Enhancing the local/regional healthcare systems as a result of using the tool

Each region presented the process of maturity assessment in their region and their experiences. The meeting report concludes the suggestions and discussion points of each question and the ideas for improvement. Among practical enhancements proposed to the current version of the tool were that it would be beneficial to accompany the use of the tool by an informative video, and that the tool needs to be translated into the local languages to make it more user friendly. In addition, a wide range of ideas was expressed with regard to expanding the range of stakeholders who could use the tool; healthcare professionals, social care organisations, patient organisations, citizens, and people from the community.
