On the 23rd January 2014, the final conference of the Joint Action on Health Inequalities, ‘Equity Action’, was held.

 

The conference showcased the results of the Joint Action, assessed progress on addressing health inequalities in the EU, and considered opportunities and priorities for future action. The conference consisted of five panel debates on various aspects of health inequalities, including the role of governments and fostering action at the sub-national level. Key speakers included Tonio Borg (Commissioner for Health, European Commission), Michael Marmot (Director of Institute of Health Equality, University College London), and Adonis Georgiadis (Minister of Health, Greece). Elisabeth Ramberg, Public Health Director from EUREGHA member Region Västra Götaland, also presented their action plan on health equity.
