The next meeting of the European Committee of the Regions’ Interregional Group on Health and Well-being will take place on Wednesday 26 June from 8h00 to 9h00 at the European Committee of the Regions building, room JDE 53. The topic of the meeting is
According to the Directive 2011/24/EU, citizens of the European Union have the right to access healthcare in any EU country and to be reimbursed for medical treatment taken abroad by their home state. Within the EU, there are 40 internal land border regions, where 30% of the total European population lives. Living in a border region does not lend itself well to the free movement of labour and services, which leads to disadvantages in economic, social, and cultural developments in these regions. All of these factors significantly affect the healthcare systems of border regions.
The meeting aims to discuss the challenges and the possible solutions concerning the Healthcare sector in Cross-Border Regions while highlighting the regional experiences and viewpoints on this matter.
