EUREGHA – the reference network of European Regional and Local Health Authorities,
is pleased to invite you to the event:
26 November 2020
14:30-16:30
Online meeting
Today’s challenge is to guarantee universal access and quality health care for all. These principles lay at the heart of the European cohesion and public health authorities must protect them. Now more than ever, we need to invest in health promotion, reinforcing our health systems preparedness, responsiveness and resilience, ensuring cross-border cooperation across Europe, while ensuring solidarity and equity.
Even though healthcare in the European Union is predominantly a competence of the Member States, regional and local authorities share responsibilities and competencies in the sector as some countries in Europe are organized in a decentralized management system. The European Committee of the Regions must play a crucial role, then, in shaping the future of EU Health policies, contributing to the European Health Union and embedding the regional dimension in this debate.
The next meeting of the Interregional Group on Health and Wellbeing will take place on 26 November. During this virtual gathering, CoR rapporteurs on health dossiers will be invited to discuss their opinions. The objective is to share information and knowledge among the CoR members, health stakeholders, regional representatives and developing a common consistent vision on health-related topics. The meeting will also take into account upcoming opinions on “The European Health Union”, “The Pharmaceutical Industry”, the “EU Beating Cancer Plan”, and “Cross-border healthcare”.
