EUREGHA, the reference network for European Regional and Local Health Authorities, is looking for a young professional interested in joining the team for a paid traineeship as Communication and Policy Assistant (Convention D’Immersion Professionelle), starting as soon as possible!

The successful candidate will work with the EUREGHA staff and our members (regions and local health authorities), supporting the association’s communication activities and getting involved across the board on policy, project and membership related tasks.

We’re looking for someone with good communication and writing skills, proactive attitude, interest in working in or learning more about health and/or regional policy, and interest in developing and improving its skills and experience in a vibrant European, Brussels-based, dynamic NGO.

Job Responsibilities

Main responsibilities and tasks will include:

  • Designing and implementing external communications activities, including social media, internal and external newsletters, other publications or materials.
  • Supporting the communication and stakeholders’ engagement work delivered by EUREGHA in the framework of its active EU Projects such as BeWell or ONCODIR.
  • Playing a key role in the organisation of EUREGHA events (including, for instance, an upcoming session at the European Week of Regions and Cities, meetings of the European Committee of the Regions Interregional Group on Health and Wellbeing, EU projects meetings and the EUREGHA high-level annual conference) and internal meetings (e.g., Working Groups, Executive Boards, etc).
  • Facilitating external outreach actions of the organisation, including participation and reporting from events, expert groups, liaison with European institutions and other organisations and networks.
  • Monitoring EU legislative and non-legislative developments in the field of health and regional policies to inform members and external stakeholders. Contributing to research and analysis on various health policy and practice issues, to support EUREGHA’s Working Groups activities.

The precise nature of activities will depend on the profiles of the selected profile and priorities during the time of the placement, to be agreed during the recruitment phase.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Excellent level of English (oral and written) is required.
  • University degree in political science, public affairs, international relations, health/health policy, law, or another relevant field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proactive approach, willingness to take the initiative and ownership of an assignment.
  • Good knowledge of EU decision making processes and its stakeholders – previous experience working in the EU institutions and / or Executive Agencies (internships) is a specific plus.
  • Capability to work effectively within a small and dynamic team.
  • Good knowledge of digital communication tools and platforms, in particular social media, digital newsletter applications, website content management. Particular knowledge and experience with Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experiences considered important plus: previous traineeship experiences in communication and/or health policy, experience with organisation of events, basic/intermediate knowledge of EU projects, direct knowledge and experience with digital communication platforms such as Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress.

Candidates must eligible for a traineeship under the Belgian Convention d’immersion professionnelle rules.
