EUREGHA – the reference network of European Regional and Local Health Authorities – is pleased to invite you to the meeting organised by the Committee of the Regions’ Interregional Group on Health and Well-being:
On April 26, 2023, the European Commission made a significant move by adopting a new Regulation and Directive as part of the revision of the pharmaceutical legislation, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services and ensuring the well-being of patients across the EU. This development carries far-reaching implications for the healthcare sector and will be decisive in advancing toward a stronger European Health Union, which sees the pharmaceutical strategy as one of its key pillars.
Regional and local health authorities have a key role to play in this transformative process. Their proximity to the healthcare facilities and providers enables them to have a deep understanding of the local needs and challenges, often acting as key intermediaries between the EU and the healthcare organizations within their jurisdiction, facilitating effective implementation of the new legislation, and playing an important role in the research and market access frameworks.
This event can be a perfect occasion to further foster a multi-level and constructive dialogue among EU institutions and stakeholders and exchange views on the challenges and opportunities for regional and local health authorities posed by such an important legislative package.
