On 23 June, EUREGHA and the Progetto Mattone Internazionale organised a breakfast briefing on the upcoming actions within the health sector during the Italian Semester. During the briefing, the priorities within the field of health of the Italian Presidency were presented by the Italian Health Attaché, Mr Lecchini. The two new Joint Actions on Chronic Diseases and Comprehensive Cancer Control were also presented.
Ingrid Stegeman from Eurohealthnet presented the Joint Action on Chronic Diseases (CHRODIS), with a focus on how the joint action will focus on health promotion. The Joint Action on Comprehensive Cancer Control (CANCON) was presented by Régine Kiasuwa from the Belgian Public Health Institute. The aim with CANCON is to contribute to reducing the cancer burden in the EU and to contribute to improvement in cancer control.
1 July saw the start of the Italian Presidency of the EU. Mr Lecchini, the Italian Health Attaché, presented the health priorities of the Presidency. Some of the priorities that the Italian Presidency will focus on are; nutrition and physical activity, health and migration, health promotion and prevention, vaccination policy and innovation in health.
